HAMMER HORROR Tourist killed and Brit injured ‘hammer-wielding attacker’ near Eiffel Tower in Paris – as people urged to avoid area

A TOURIST has been killed and a British man injured by a "hammer-wielding attacker" near the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

It is understood the British victim was attacked while walking in the town with his family, after which people have been urged to avoid the area.




The massacre took place at Grenelle pier in the 15th arrondissement of the French capital at around 10 pm.

French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed that "passersby" were attacked in the Quai de Grenelle area.

He said the attacker had been arrested and the injured man was being treated by emergency services.

Speaking on

"One dead person and one injured person were treated by the Paris Fire Brigade. Please avoid the area."

According to local media, the attacker is a French citizen and is currently in custody and facing possible murder charges.

It also said he was "immobilized with an electric stun gun" as he ran towards the Avenue du Parc de Passy.

It said the person who died was also a tourist with dual German and Philippine nationality.

He was found in cardiorespiratory arrest on the Bir-Hakim bridge.

He died due to knife wounds on his back and shoulder.

A British tourist suffered head injuries on the Avenue du President Kennedy after allegedly being attacked with a hammer.

It is believed that he was walking with his wife and child when the attacker came from behind and attacked him.

An investigation source said, "The family was on Avenue President Kennedy when they were attacked."

"A hammer was used to hit the man on the head."

The Englishman was taken to hospital, where his condition was later described as "stable".

The third victim was also badly injured in the hammer attack, the source said.

At present, a security cordon is in place in view of the incidents as the police are investigating.

Authorities said there were no preliminary indications about a motive for the stabbing.

Le Parisien reports that a knife and a hammer were used in the attack, which injured another British tourist.
