Heavy rain may occur in the south this weekend
It's likely to be a wet weekend across the southern US as a spell of rain is expected.

That could spell trouble for areas with wet soils from central Mississippi to northern Georgia, where more than 6 inches of rain has fallen in the past month. The Fox Forecast Center said repeated rounds of rain along the cold front and ahead could lead to flash flooding.

The rainiest day will likely be Saturday, when flash flooding is possible across a stretch from Texas to North Carolina. Flooding is also possible Sunday in an area stretching from Mississippi to South Carolina.

Twisters seen in the Midwest

The weather turned severe across the Midwest Thursday night, producing tornadoes in both Illinois and Wisconsin. For Wisconsin, it was the state's first tornado in February. The spring-like storms were, in part, a result of the unseasonably warm temperatures recently experienced in the region.
