MIND THE CLAP-TRAP ‘Virtue signalling nonsense’…Sadiq Khan slammed for splurging £6m wokifying London Overground

These include the "Liberty Line", the "Windrush Line" and the "Suffragette Line".

TfL stressed that the changes would make it easier for passengers to identify different routes.

At first these were collectively known simply as the "Ginger Line".

Mr Khan praised the move, calling it a "hugely exciting moment that transforms the way we think about London's transport network".

He said: “Giving each Overground line a different color and identity will make it easier and easier for passengers to get around.

“While re-imagining London's Tube map, we are also honoring and celebrating different parts of London's unique local history and culture.”

But Tory mayoral candidate Susan Hall described the name change as a waste of money.

She said: “The Central Line is in a terrible state, TfL are wasting money left, right and centre, crime on the Tube is rising, and Sadiq Khan is ignoring all this to focus on his PR ..

“I will listen to Londoners, fix the problems with TfL and tackle crime.”

Former cabinet minister Lord Frost said: "The London tradition is that public transport lines are named either with a royal connection or related to the geography of the line.

“To give them political names, whether one agrees with the politics or not, is to break that tradition.

"This is part of the general forced politicization of many aspects of our daily lives these days. Certainly no one can expect anything better from Sadiq Khan and TfL and his appallingly poor management of London."
