Disney eyes North Carolina for new residential development, likely to have hefty price tag

 Asteria will have 1,500 acres of land filled with over 4,000 residential units

Can't get enough Disney? Fans will soon be able to purchase residential homes with a sprinkle of Disney pixie dust in picturesque North Carolina designed by the company's theme park designers.

Despite the company's recent financial burden, the media group is moving forward with plans for a new residential concept.

The 1,500-acre community, known as Asteria, will include 4,000 single-family and multi-family homes and will be located in Pittsboro, North Carolina, near Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill.

It will also include targeted housing for people aged 55 and above.

Homeowners in the community will have access to a variety of Disney-esque entertainment and activity options, including a clubhouse, wellness center, community garden, restaurants, sports courts, and an extensive trail system.

Disney's StoryLiving, the brand behind the development, said sales of the homes are expected to begin by 2027.

News of a new StoryLiving community comes on the heels of Disney's announcement of building residential communities across the US.

The first community, called "Cotino", is currently being built in Rancho Mirage in Southern California.

“The announcement of the Asteria community builds on the strong initial interest by the Disney community for our first StoryLiving in California and will expand Disney-branded communities on the East Coast,” said Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Businesses. said in a news release. “Our team is working closely with Disney Imagineers to develop a unique approach to this project inspired by Walt Disney’s innate curiosity and North Carolina’s spirit of discovery.”


While Disney has not shared the starting price for Asteria in North Carolina, the company notes on its website that the starting price for single-family homes in Cotino, California will be "high $1 million - low $2 million." are supposed to.

Disney's StoryLiving did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
